Denver South Park & Pacific from Pine to Buena Vista Part 2

Summary

Denver South Park & Pacific very ghost. Had such notable accomplishments as the Alpine Tunnel and Palisades. This will be in 5 parts. This is part 2.
Denver South Park & Pacific very ghost. Much of the grade can be found or is a road. In part 2 east of Buena Vista the Colorado Midland followed the same drainage. It is difficult to know which road bed you see but usually there is only one visable. In a few spots both are identifible. The paved road may be on one of the grades most probably Colo Midland which was standard gauge. All the rail is long gone except for Kenosa Pass which is a re-creation. We have digitally added rails to a few photos for nostalgia.

The Denver South Park & Pacific (DSP&P)went from Denver to Gunnison where it joined the DRG. There were plans to go to Salt Lake City and grade was started north from Gunnison but track was only partly laid. The DSP&P had a colorful history east of Gunnison and around Leadville, Como, Breckenridge, Boreas Pass, Alpine Tunnel, Fairplay.
